United to win: Canada allocates almost $500 mln in military aid to Ukraine
Today, September 22, Canada announced the provision of long-term aid to Ukraine in the amount of C$650 million (over $482 million) for the next three years. In particular, the funds will be directed to producing armored vehicles. The country will also join the training of Ukrainian pilots on Western F-16 fighters.
This was reported by Rubryka, referring to the statement of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Trudeau said that part of the money will be spent on the construction of 50 armored vehicles and 50 sanitary vehicles. This assistance is designed for three years.
"I have made it clear that our government will support Ukraine as long as necessary… Today, we are announcing a longer-term, multi-year commitment that provides predictable and stable support to Ukraine.
This includes C$650 million over three years for 50 armored vehicles, including Medevacs, to be built by Canadian experts in London, Ontario," Trudeau announced.
Canada will also send its instructors and technicians to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters.
"Also, we are sending instructors for F-16 fighter jets to train pilots and technicians so that Ukrainians can use the donated aircraft as efficiently as possible," Canada's PM added.
A meeting between the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, took place in Ottawa today. The leaders held face-to-face and extended talks.
Volodymyr Zelensky and Justin Trudeau discussed Ukraine's defense needs, further financial and humanitarian support for Ukraine, as well as expanding opportunities for economic and investment cooperation.
