"Children of Heroes" opens fundraiser for free IT education for children of fallen Ukrainian soldiers
The "Children of Heroes" charity foundation cares for children who lost their parents to Russia's war.
The organization has launched a fundraiser on the dobro.ua platform to provide children with quality and modern education, Rubryka reports.
What is the problem?
The devastating Russian war is taking the lives of Ukrainian heroes who have spouses and children at home. During the year and a half of the war, thousands of defenders and Ukrainian civilians were killed and tortured. Children are often left without full parental care because Russia takes away one of the parents. Families often lack income for their children's livelihoods or future education. Sadness, depression, and a deep sense of loss settle in their homes.
What is the solution?
Children's lives must go on. Despite the war, Ukrainian children should feel that they will have a professional future in which they can succeed.
Over 6,000 kids have been wards of "Children of Heroes," and about half of them see their future in IT, so the fund is launching a fundraiser on the dobro.ua platform.
Society can realize children's dreams and provide 3,000 children with high-quality and modern IT education. The fund aims to raise ₴35 million (nearly $950,000).
Anyone can become a part of the project if they donate. All funds will be spent on educating children who lost their parents due to the war.
How does it work?
"Dad is gone?"
Dasha became interested in videography after her father's death. She was born on her father's birthday — October 8 — and became his most valuable gift. The girl grew up in Velyka Mykhailivka, Odesa region. She always respected her relatives and adored her father until the war took his life.
Oleksandr, Dasha's father, went to defend the Motherland in the first days of the war. But the man died tragically during one of the combat missions in the Kherson region.
"When I found out that Oleksandr died, I didn't know how to tell the children," says Tetiana, Dasha's mother. "But when I went into their room, Dasha immediately understood everything. She just asked: 'Is dad gone?' and burst into tears."
The girl is 12 years old, and the loss is very difficult for her. Her hobby — drawing and videography — is helping her cope with this pain.
After her father's death, Dasha Dovhoshei became a ward of the "Children of Heroes" foundation. Thanks to contributions from benefactors, the girl was given a tablet and courses in video shooting and editing. The girl wants to study IT to gain skills for her future profession.
This is where everyone can come to the rescue and donate to give Dasha the modern education she needs to have confidence in her future.
Rubryka reported that veterans and their family members in Ukraine are offered to master IT for free. The "IT for veterans and their families" project continues to train those who wish to specialize in IT.
