Russian air strike on Sumy leaves three wounded, 20 houses damaged
On early Friday morning, the Russian forces launched a rocket attack on the northern city of Sumy.
According to the Sumy authorities, the attack happened at about 5:30 a.m. The Russian troops used warfare prohibited by international law and launched a rocket attack on a residential quarter.
One private home was completely destroyed. The rescuers got an elderly couple out of the rubble: a 64-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man. At least 20 neighboring houses and eight cars were damaged. Rescuers continue working at the scene.
"People are provided with all the necessary assistance," the regional administration said.
The police of the Sumy region later reported that the number of victims of Friday's rocket attack increased to three people. Currently, police, rescuers, and medics are working at the scene, eliminating the consequences of the Russian airstrike. Criminal proceedings have been opened under Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, "Violation of laws and customs of war."
