In the Black Sea, close to Zmiinyi Island, the Defense Forces recently shot down a Russian fighter jet trying to bombard a Ukrainian boat close to the island.

The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this.

As noted in the department, the plane of the occupiers was damaged.

"Ukraine's security and defense forces struck an enemy aircraft in the Black Sea. In the territorial waters of Ukraine near Zmiinyi Island, in the area of the so-called "Boiko towers," a collision between a Russian military aircraft and Ukrainian warships took place," the intelligence agency wrote in the message.

As noted, the occupiers' enemy aircraft tried to attack the military vessels of Ukraine's Security and Defense Forces. However, it received an answer.

"Enemy propaganda spread a fake about the alleged damage and sinking of the Ukrainian boat. The Russian missile fell into the water and continued to meet the cruiser "Moskva" [Russian missile cruiser that Ukraine's armed forces destroyed – ed.] – no harm was done to the Ukrainian military.

In response to the attempted attack, Ukrainian service members struck the occupiers' fighter jet. A missile fired from a Ukrainian warship damaged the Russian ship, which was forced to immediately leave the scene and fly in the direction of the nearest airfield," the intelligence officers emphasized.

It should be noted that on August 22, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the "destruction by an aircraft of the Russian Air Force in the Black Sea, east of the Zmiinyi Island, of a high-speed military boat Willard Sea Force, manufactured by the United States with an amphibious assault group of the Armed Forces on board," – and a video was released.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation emphasized that "the high-speed surface target was actively maneuvering, trying to evade the fighter's fire, but an aircraft gun successfully hit it."

However, in a comment to CNN, an unnamed representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that there was no such incident in the Ukrainian Navy and that there were no casualties among the personnel of the Navy.

For reference:

As Rubryka wrote, according to the General Staff, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have already landed 315 Russian planes since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In addition, the total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 258,820 troops.

On August 17, Ukrainian defenders destroyed a Russian Ka-52 helicopter on the Bakhmut front.

In addition, the representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Andriy Yusov, confirmed that Ukrainian intelligence officers had lured a Russian Mi-8 helicopter with its pilot to Ukraine.
