Ukraine refutes Russia's claims to have destroyed US-made military vessel carrying Ukrainians near Snake Island
Ukraine has denied Russian claims about the destruction of an American-made military boat, says the Naval Forces spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk to CNN.
Russian defense ministry stated the warplane had taken out the vessel, which it said was carrying a "Ukrainian landing group."
There was no such incident in the Ukrainian Navy. There are no losses among the personnel. Accordingly, in this case we have nothing to comment.
CNN says that the Russian agency published a video that allegedly shows the incident with the boat. The recording shows the shelling of some targets without any identification details.
Russian propaganda regularly spreads statements about fake "victories," and therefore, it is worth taking such "information" very carefully.
Russian drones and missiles have repeatedly struck Ukrainian port facilities and grain silos, while Ukrainian sea drones have damaged a Russian warship and struck a Russian tanker.
The island became synonymous with Ukrainian resistance in the first hours of the all-out war when Russian officers on the Moskva cruiser radioed Ukrainian guards stationed there and ordered them to surrender or be bombed.
The island's defenders replied with the message "Russian warship, go f*ck yourself," which went viral as a national slogan in Ukraine. Russia took the island but abandoned it on June 30 last year after taking heavy losses trying to defend it.
