The "Side by Side" project, aimed at the restoration of war-battered towns all over the frontline, shows its results in the Kherson region again.

Volunteers from Ukraine's western Ternopil have already rebuilt 23 houses in the southern town of Arkhangelske.

What is the problem?

Before the full-scale war, the town was home to 2,000 citizens. However, Russian hostilities caused all of the residents to flee. After its liberation, Arkhangelske, like many of Kherson's settlements, became a no man's land with drained soil and destroyed houses.

What is the solution?

The "Side by Side" is a new project to rebuild communities in the most war-affected regions. As part of the initiative, Ukraine's western Ternopil joined the initiative to reconstruct the town in the southern Kherson region.

How does it work?

Volodymyr Trush, head of the Ternopil military administration, emphasized that the village of Arkhangelske in the Kherson region will be taken care of with the efforts of Ternopil citizens.

The Ternopil region has already restored 23 houses in the village, the statement said.

The next step, says Trush, will be dedicated to the restoration of the entire central street. As of August 13, around 1200 residents have returned to the village.

The "Side by Side" project connected the efforts of 15 Ukraine's regions to restore 26 towns of the war-battered Kherson settlements.

Only together, by combining efforts, we can return normal life to the Kherson region. The life that Russia destroyed, said Deputy Head of the President's Office Oleksii Kuleba.

Oleksii Kuleba previously said the Kherson region would be a pilot area for the initiative as one of the most affected in Ukraine.

Kherson suffered many Russian atrocities, including the Kakhovka dam destruction. The explosion caused a large flood, which caused thousands of civilians to leave their homes and urgently evacuate from the rising danger.

The consequences of Russia's eco-terrorism will haunt residents for decades. To restore everything, Ukraine needs to rely on the experience of other states, which suffered from natural and human-caused flooding. Rubryka predicts the possible strategy of the Kherson restoration in its article.
