Greece joins G7 Vilnius declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine

Greece has become the 14th country to join the G7 joint declaration on "security guarantees" for Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky reports in his evening address.

Earlier in August, Zelensky said that during the second half of this year, the package of security guarantees for Ukraine would become more specified.

I thank Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for his commitment to the Ukrainian-Greek partnership. We are working together on Ukraine's path to NATO, Zelensky wrote on Telegram.

Apart from Greece, the countries that have already joined the declaration include Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Norway, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Finland, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Latvia.

On July 12, the leaders of the G7 countries agreed on the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Vilnius.

Athens and Kyiv recently held direct talks to conclude a bilateral agreement resulting in Greece's commitment to providing Ukraine with security guarantees in several fields, including defense.
