Ukraine receives $1.25 bln grant from US – Ministry of Finance
The state budget of Ukraine received a grant of 1.25 billion US dollars from the United States of America.
The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reported this. The funds came through the Trust Fund of many donors of the World Bank.
The grant was provided as part of the fifth additional financing within the framework of the project "Supporting public expenditures to ensure sustainable public administration in Ukraine" (PEACE in Ukraine). The project's purpose is partial compensation of state budget expenditures, particularly social and humanitarian expenditures unrelated to the sphere of security and defense.
The involved grant funding will be aimed at reimbursing state budget expenses, in particular, for the wages of employees of state bodies and payments under separate programs of state social assistance (for IDPs, persons with disabilities, low-income families, payments of housing and communal subsidies) and other social payments.
"Irrevocable financial assistance from the United States is an essential element in supporting the State Budget of Ukraine during the resistance to the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation. Another grant will help the Government of Ukraine to reimburse priority expenditures in the social and humanitarian spheres. We are extremely grateful to the Government and taxpayers of the United States of America for their solidarity and unprecedented support of Ukraine in this defining period for our country," said Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko.
