Russian drone strikes apartment building in Ukraine's northern city of Sumy: one civilian killed
A drone strike by Russian troops on a five-story building in Ukraine's northern city of Sumy killed one person.
Head of the Office of the President Andrii Yermak reported this on the Telegram messaging app.
Suspilne reported that a Russian shelling damaged a residential building in Sumy.
"As a result of the Russian attack, a residential building was damaged in the center of Sumy," the statement reads.
The Sumy regional military administration called on the region's residents not to leave shelters and not to post photos and videos from the places of potential strikes.
The Sumy region is the northern Ukrainian region bordering Russia that has been under constant shelling and airstrikes by Russian troops. After Russia began its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, part of the area was under a one-month Russian occupation until liberated by the Ukrainian forces in early April 2022. Since then, the Russian forces have shelled the region from the territory of Russia using artillery, tanks, air defense missiles, and aerial bombs.
