Ukrainian soldiers shoot down Russian attack helicopter worth $16 mln
On Sunday, June 18, Ukrainian defenders shot down a Russian Ka-52 "Alligator" attack helicopter.
The General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces reported that.
"Another Russian Ka-52 "Alligator" helicopter was shot down this afternoon. About 16 million US dollars will underfund the budget of the Russian Federation," the message reads.
For reference:
The Ka-52, also known as the "Alligator," is a Russian combat helicopter, a command vehicle of army aviation, which performs terrain reconnaissance, target designation, and coordination of the actions of a group of combat helicopters. The machine can hit armored and non-armored vehicles, human resources, and air targets on the battlefield. It is a continuation of the development of the Ka-50 "Black Shark" model.
As of mid-November 2022, at least 25 Ka-52s were confirmed to have been lost during the invasion, representing more than 25% of all combat-capable helicopters of this type in service with the Russian military.
It should be noted that Ukrainian defenders have already destroyed more than 300 military helicopters of the occupying country.
"The number of helicopters destroyed in Ukraine is approximately five times greater than during the two wars of aggression in Ichkeria, where the losses of Russian terrorists amounted to about 60 combat and transport vehicles," Hromov said.
On June 15, the Ukrainian marines eliminated the Russian attack helicopter Ka-52 "Alligator," which became the 301st destroyed enemy helicopter since the beginning of the great war.
Also, on June 16, soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed an enemy Ka-52 attack helicopter.
In addition, the Air Defense Forces destroyed two Ka-52 attack helicopters and 12 enemy drones on June 17-18.
