Pope Francis urges world to remember "much-suffering Ukraine" on Refugee Day
On the eve of Refugee Day, Pope Francis called on the whole world not to forget about "much-suffering Ukraine."
Vatican News reported this.
"And let's keep endurance in prayer for the population of much-suffering Ukraine; let's not forget that it suffers a lot," the Pope said.
The patriarch's meeting with believers in St. Peter's Square on June 18 was the first after his hospitalization.
The previous general audience of Pope Francis, which took place before his operation in the hospital, also ended with a similar call for Ukraine.
The Pope recalled the tragedy in the Aegean Sea and called to pray for peace in the context of the brutal attack on a school in Uganda.
"With deep sadness and great sorrow, I think about the victims of the terrible shipwreck that happened these days near the Greek coast," he emphasized.
Regarding the events in Uganda, where as a result of a militant attack on a school, more than forty people died, the Pope said that he is praying for "young schoolchildren, victims of a brutal attack."
