Ukraine allocates $540,000 to support its liberated war prisoners

Ukraine's Ministry of Reintegration directed 20.1 million UAH ($540,000) to citizens released from Russian captivity in May.

201 individuals who were liberated from captivity received financial assistance of 100,000 UAH ($2,700) from the state, the ministry's report states.

The Ministry of Reintegration continues to provide state financial assistance to individuals who have been deprived of their freedom as a result of the armed aggression against Ukraine, the statement said.

Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has already allocated a total of 82.3 million UAH ($2.2 million) in state aid to those released from captivity and the families of the captives.

Previously, on May 25, Ukraine managed to return 106 Ukrainian troops of the Bakhmut direction – 8 officers and 98 soldiers and sergeants – from Russian captivity.

At the same time, Zelensky announced that 106 defenders of Ukraine, who returned from captivity on May 25, were previously considered missing.

On May 6, another 45 soldiers of the Azovstal steel plant returned to Ukraine from Russian captivity.
