Russian aggressors launched a missile strike on Avdiivka in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, destroying a 9-story residential building.

Two people were injured, and there are still people trapped under the rubble, says Vitalii Barabash, the head of the Avdiivka city military administration.

"A Russian missile destroyed a residential building in Avdiivka," he said in the statement on his Telegram channel. "Nine floors are completely demolished. There are two people under the rubble, but there could be up to five individuals. Two people were injured, and one woman is in critical condition."

Barabash stressed that even bomb shelters don't help people in Avdiivka at this point because the Russian forces are targeting the city with rockets and FAB aviation bombs with high-explosive warheads.

The head of the military administration once again urged residents to evacuate to save lives. The tension around the city of Avdiivka, north of Donetsk, is escalating as Russian troops persistently attempt to encircle the area.

Back in March, Rubryka reported that civilian populations in the Donetsk region were being evacuated due to constant Russian shelling. The road leading out of Avdiivka has been referred to as the "death road" due to the ongoing shelling.

Rubryka reported that volunteers from NGO PORUCH visited frontline villages in the Donetsk region as part of a humanitarian mission.
