France considers transfering SCALP long-range missiles to Ukraine, following Britain
France may transfer SCALP long-range missile to Ukraine, following the UK's decision to send Storm Shadow missiles, Le Monde reports.
French President Emmanuel Macron said that "all options are being considered," answering a question about the possibility of supplying SCALP missiles to Ukraine.
We're considering all options, a source at the Elysée Palace told Le Monde.
France was exchanging information with Ukraine and the United Kingdom about the results of all military aid provided to Kyiv, in particular, regarding long-range missiles.
France and Great Britain jointly developed the SCALP system in the 1990s. Its basic range is 250 km, but it can be increased to 500 or even 700 km, depending on the modification.
Le Monde adds that France began to think about transferring long-range missiles to Ukraine after Great Britain announced it. The British Storm Shadow missiles, which are already successfully used by Ukrainian defenders, are an analog of the French SCALP.
As with all aid to Ukraine, France is discussing with its Ukrainian and British partners its consequences, especially with regard to long-range missiles, said an interlocutor from Macron's entourage.
