Ukraine and US in talks to cooperate on solar power generation
Ukraine talked with the US delegation about the experience of the energy companies of the state of Utah in developing solar generation and strengthening the energy system's flexibility.
The Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Yaroslav Demchenkov, stated this during a meeting with a representative delegation from the state of Utah, the Ministry of Energy reports.
"We're interested in the experience of energy companies in Utah in developing renewable energy sources, particularly solar generation," said Demchenkov. "The Government of Ukraine has adopted the Energy Strategy until 2050, and we will develop directions that will allow us to achieve the goals of climate neutrality and decentralize generation."
The Cabinet of Ministers adopted the 2050 Energy Strategy of Ukraine this April to create conditions for the national economy's sustainable development and ensure access to reliable, sustainable, and modern energy sources.
The energy strategy is based on National Economic Strategy for 2030 and international obligations undertaken by Ukraine within the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and the Paris Climate Agreement.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the state of Ukraine's energy sector amid Russia's constant missile and drone attacks and ways to strengthen its stability and recovery. They also discussed how to prepare for the new heating season and demining of the energy infrastructure after the Russian occupation.
As was reported, due to Russia's destruction of many energy facilities, Ukraine will strengthen the development of renewable energy sources to decentralize generation and increase the security of the electricity supply.
