Surface and air drones constitute threat to russia's Black Sea fleet – UK intelligence
The threat from surface drones is likely to limit the actions of russia's Black Sea fleet.
The UK's Ministry of Defense reported on Twitter, citing intelligence data, that at least three surface and one aerial drone attempted to attack the russian naval base in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol on March 22.
According to information from open sources, one naval drone stopped due to defensive boom barriers. The remaining two were destroyed in the harbor. At the same time, russian officials said that no russian ship was damaged.
According to reports, during the previous drone attack in Sevastopol in temporarily occupied Crimea, on October 29, 2022, the minesweeper "Ivan Golubets" and the frigate "Admiral Makarov" were damaged.
"Even though the new attacks likely failed to damage any military assets, the USV threat likely continues to constrain operations of russia's Black Sea Fleet," British intelligence reports.
As reported, in the morning of March 22, loud explosions rang out in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol, and the crossing across the Sevastopol Bay was blocked.
The head of the joint press center of the South operational command, Natalia Humeniuk, said that the season of destroying the enemy in the temporarily occupied Crimea is just beginning, and it is too early to announce the details.
