russia's attack on Bakhmut is a tactical failure continuing only on inertia – Ukrainian Army
The russian occupying forces are tactically unable to complete the operation to capture the Donetsk fortress city of Bakhmut and continue to carry out "inertia" attacks.
Ukraine's Operational Command East spokesperson Serhiy Cherevatyi reported on the air of the national telethon.
The military spokesperson said that russian actions in the Bakhmut region of Donetsk region could hardly be called a major strategic offensive operation.
"Now, in fact, tactically, they cannot complete the operation to seize the Ukrainian district center of Bakhmut. Yes, there are very active battles there, they continue to carry out several dozens of attacks on inertia, but they suffer huge losses," Cherevatyi emphasized.
The spokesman emphasized that the Ukrainian command and staff were planning the defense correctly. Yes, our defenders:
- bleed the enemy,
- are draining his combat capabilities,
- break the fighting spirit of the aggressors.
In addition, Cherevatyi added that the statements of the founder of "Wagner" PMC (russian paramilitary organization, a network of mercenaries – ed.) Evgeny Prigozhin about the lack of ammunition is an SOS signal to the leadership of the russian federation.
He believes that the statements of Prigozhin and terrorist Igor Girkin are the best demotivator for the russian troops.
It should be noted that ISW analysts reported that Prigozhin announced a large-scale counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine already in April, calling for the preservation of the russian military forces. In this way, he tried to justify his failure to achieve his goals in Bakhmut.
Also, Cherevatyi emphasized that the defense of Bakhmut lays the groundwork for a further counteroffensive by the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
