Hungary blocked €18 billion euros EU aid package to Ukraine in 2023
Hungary opposed the adoption of the European Commission's proposal to allocate 18 billion euros of financial aid to Ukraine in 2023 at a meeting of the Council of the European Union.
Radio Svoboda correspondent Rikard Jozwiak reported this on Twitter.
"As expected, today's meeting of EU finance ministers in Brussels did not give the green light for 18 billion euros for Ukraine," the journalist noted.
"Hungary is still blocking to secure its own EU funds. A very emotional debate in which Budapest was criticized by everyone, but to no avail," Jozwiak added.

It will be recalled that France, Germany, and Italy lead a group of approximately 12 governments that call on the European Commission to reconsider its decision to freeze 7.5 billion euros in funding to Hungary.
It should be noted that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that he would not continue to support the EU's plan to provide Ukraine with EUR 18 billion in aid next year.
As Rubryka wrote, on November 6, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, warned President Volodymyr Zelensky that a proposal to approve a financial aid package for Ukraine worth 18 billion euros would be made this week.
It will be recalled that the European Commission hoped to complete the legal formalization of the emergency package of macro-financial assistance for Ukraine in the amount of €18 billion for 2023 (MFA+) by the end of the year and expected that it would be able to convince Hungary to support this decision.
