Lithuania hands Ukraine equipment to repair energy infrastructure
Lithuanian companies sent equipment worth about 100,000 euros to Ukraine for repairing electrical substations and gas pipelines damaged due to shelling by the russian army.
This was reported by the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid on Twitter.
"In view of Russia's targeted destruction of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Litgrid and Amber Grid have urgently shipped equipment worth almost €100,000 to repair damaged electricity substations and gas pipelines. The aid will be channeled through the NGO Blue/Yellow," the tweet reads.
russia has been carrying out attacks on the territory of Ukraine to damage critical infrastructure facilities since October 10.
It was reported that the Ministry of the Environment of Lithuania handed over six off-road vehicles for the nature parks, Pushcha Radzyvila, Tuzly Lagoons, and Hetmanskyi.
In September this year, Minister Ruslan Strelets and Lithuanian Environment Minister Simonas Gentvilas signed the Declaration on Cooperation in Environmental Protection. On October 18, Lithuania handed over six SUVs to the environmental protection institutions of Ukraine. The car keys were handed over to representatives of the Yavoriv National Nature Park in the Lviv Region.
Also, recently the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, said that NATO should accept Ukraine after its victory over Russia. Otherwise, the Alliance will be meaningless.
"I hope that it [issue, ed.] will never have to be raised, and we will be able to congratulate Ukraine on joining the defense club," said Landsbergis, commenting on the decision of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to submit an official application for Ukraine's membership in NATO in an accelerated manner.
According to the minister, Lithuania supports Ukraine's desire to become a member of NATO. Landsbergis noted that many questions would arise if our country, after the victory over russia, does not become part of the Alliance in the future.
