Ukrainian students found eco-solutions for disposable smoking systems
They turn batteries from used "cigarettes" into power elements of drone drop release systems.
Disposable e-cigarettes, which have recently become popular among young people, contain batteries that can pollute an area of 20 m² around them with heavy metals. People shouldn't throw them into the trash under any circumstances.
EcoKPI (National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute") students found a solution to this problem, which can "kill two birds with one stone." They disassemble disposable smoking devices into components and, from the necessary parts, make power elements for drone drop release systems. The remaining parts the EcoKPI team gives for processing to the public organization "Ukraine without waste" or safe high-temperature incineration.
The collection of cigarettes has been going on for two months. During this time, the students collected more than 4,000 used electronic cigarettes and turned them into 400 power cells for drone drop systems.
How to hand over used "cigarettes" to students?
- Leave them at the reception point at any ROZETKA order delivery point
- Put them in containers in Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and National University of Kyiv dormitories
