Johnson adresses his successor: Stay close to the Americans and stick up for the Ukrainians

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson outlined advice to his successor during the last series of Prime Minister's Questions in the British Parliament

Sky News reports about this, as EP writes.

"I want to take the last few seconds, Mr. Speaker, to offer some advice to my successor, whoever he or she may be.

Number one: Stay close to the Americans, stick up for the Ukrainians, stick up for freedom and democracy everywhere," Johnson said in his closing speech.

He also advised reducing taxes and deregulation wherever possible to attract investment.

"I love the Treasury but remember that if we'd always listened to the Treasury we wouldn't have built the M25 or the Channel Tunnel," the outgoing Prime Minister stated.

"Focus on the road ahead but always remember to check the rear-view mirror.

And remember, above all, it's not Twitter that counts, it's the people that sent us here," Johnson emphasized.

It should be noted that on Wednesday the British Conservative MPs will vote for the candidates for the party leader position for the last time to determine the two finalists of the pre-election race.

As Rubryka reported, the Conservative Party of Great Britain on Tuesday identified three candidates who will continue to fight for the position of the country's prime minister.

The penultimate tour also included Deputy Minister of International Trade Penny Mordaunt and British Foreign Minister Liz Truss. At the same time, the former deputy minister for equality, Kemi Badenoch, dropped out of the race.

Compared to the third one, in the fourth round, Truss got the most additional votes (15), while Sunak got the least (3).
