Our independence is the main thing russia wants to take away from us — Zelensky addressed Asian Leadership Conference in Seoul
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, addressed the "Asian Leadership" Conference participants, which is taking place in Seoul
Rubryka informs about this, referring to the OPU.
Zelensky recalled that almost three months ago, on April 11, he addressed the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and the Korean people.
"I spoke then about our independence — it is the main thing that russia wants to take away from us. It was to deprive us of our independence that russia started this brutal war of destruction," Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian president told the participants about the tactics of the russian army.
"The first tactical point is that artillery is taking our cities hostage. The russian army is organizing its offensive so that its guns and jet artillery can hit residential areas of the cities.
The second point is missile terror. 2,960 rockets as of this morning — that's how many missiles russia managed to launch over our cities. And the main aim of missiles is civilian objects.
The third point is deportation. Just imagine this number — two million people. That many of our people have already been taken to russia.
The fourth point of russian tactics is an economic shock. And it concerns not only us. Look at just one example – the Sri Lanka events. The shocking rise in food and fuel prices caused a social explosion.
And the fifth point of russian tactics is propaganda. "Apparently, no other country in the world has spent so much money on the deliberate dissemination of disinformation," Zelensky emphasized.
He said that russia's war against Ukraine is a global issue. The question is not only about what our nation expects but also what dozens of other nations expect.
"When Ukraine turns to partners for arms for our country's defense and to strengthen sanctions against a terrorist state, it is not only about our defense.
It's like vaccines: if you don't help other nations, you have to be prepared for new strains of the virus to emerge that will make your own defenses ineffective.
And I am sincerely grateful to the Republic of Korea, which realizes that this is the situation. That we must act together," the president emphasized.
"And I believe that the effectiveness of joint efforts can be such that in another hundred days, I can turn to the people of Korea again and thank them for the fact that the aggressor has really been punished.
And all other potential world aggressors have no alternative to a normal peaceful life," the Head of the country emphasized.
