Lithuania to transfer additional € 10 million for Ukraine's restoration

Lithuania will transfer additional 10 million euros to an account at the National Bank of Ukraine for urgent restoration works.

It is reported by Delfi.

"We must continue and speed up military, humanitarian and financial aid so that Ukraine wins this war as soon as possible. The volume of bilateral aid from Lithuania to Ukraine and support for Ukrainian refugees in our country exceeds half a billion euros. Lithuania will transfer an additional 10 million euros to the National Bank of Ukraine for emergency reconstruction works," said Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė, who is participating in the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano, Switzerland.

The head of the Lithuanian government added, "Lithuania will support Ukraine until your and our victory, and after it."

According to Šimonytė, the most correct and fair way to collect funding for Ukraine's reconstruction would be the confiscation and use of russian assets frozen by sanctions.

"We cannot resurrect the people killed by russia, but we have a real chance to make the aggressor pay reparations because this money is kept in our banks and moored to our docks. I call on the European Union and all non-EU countries who imposed sanctions: create a legal mechanism for confiscation of assets, and make sanctions truly effective," the Prime Minister of Lithuania said.

She also drew attention to the fact that Ukraine, protecting itself from russia, did not postpone reforms but accelerated their implementation to build a better Ukraine. Šimonytė noted that now it is the turn of Ukraine's friends and partners to prove that it is possible to move quickly from discussions to joint work.
