Kyiv City Council calls on citizens to switch to reusable eco bottles. Restaurants to join the initiative
Kyiv City Council plans the initiative to reduce plastic waste and popularize reusable bottles.
Citizens of Kyiv are asked to use reusable bottles. It is planned to create a map of restaurants with places to refill water supplies for free. It will be displayed in the "Kyiv Digital" application.
"There will be a special sticker on those restaurants' doors, that will join our initiative. After seeing it, you go inside and refill your eco bottle with filtered water for free and with no questions asked", Oleksandr Voznyi, the head of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources, explained.
According to Voznyi, he spoke to his colleagues from the restaurant business. They are "for" the initiative and ready to join it.
He added that people drink more water during the heat, therefore they use more plastic bottles, increasing the damage to the environment. One plastic bottle decomposes for 400-500 years.
