Zelensky is ready to negotiate with putin at any time to end the war
President Volodymyr Zelensky says he is ready at any moment to negotiate with putin, with or without intermediaries, about ending the war and withdrawing russian troops from the Ukrainian territory.
Zelensky stated this during an online press conference for the Danish media.
"If russia wants to end the war, because that's what they are saying in the media and I don't believe them, for them to show that they really want it, they have to sit at the negotiating table. A negotiating table without Ukraine about Ukraine is impossible. That is why these negotiations must be direct.
We can talk with or without intermediaries. I don't care about the format, to be honest, if russia is ready to end the war, meaning they will leave our territories. At any moment, I am personally ready for such a format," Zelensky said.
He stressed that "today only president putin decides whether the russian army will stop or not, because there is one person in russia who decides absolutely everything for the russian citizens and the military."
The President noted that the daily support of the Ukrainian society for any dialogue with russia is declining because "there is no faith."
"But I believe that, no matter how difficult it is, we must use every opportunity to end the war," he said.
Zelensky also expressed confidence that if the russians succeed in conquering Ukraine, they will move further.
"I am sure if Ukraine is not strong, they will continue further. Kyiv is not the finish line in their desired marathon, it was a powerful start for them. But we have shown our strength. And now, our Western partners must demonstrate this strength with us," he said.
