russian opposition leader Navalny has called for overthrowing putin's regime
russian opposition and kremlin political prisoner Aleksei Navalny has responded to the assassination of his namesake by occupiers in Ukraine and called for overthrowing russian president vladimir putin.
This is stated on Navalny's Facebook page.
"Next to the dead body on the ground is a passport with the name Navalny. He is one of those killed in the Ukrainian village of Bucha. Navalny Illia Ivanovich. All circumstances indicate that he was killed because of the name. That is why they demonstratively left their passport. Absolutely innocent person was killed by putin's executioners (well, what else to call them? not "russian soldiers"); they killed because we were namesakes. Apparently, they hoped that was my relative.
And this war was also unleashed by an obsessed maniac, obsessed with some delusions about geopolitics, history, and world order. This maniac will not stop himself. He is addicted to death, war, and lies; he needs them to stay in power. It is everyone's duty to make at least some contribution to ending this war and removing putin from power. Test where you can and how you can. Campaign as you can and who you can. Inaction is the worst. And now its consequence is death," Navalny said.
Navalny said he didn't know whether the murdered Kyiv resident was his relative.
However, he suggested that he might be related to his family because he's from the village of Zalissia in the Chornobyl district, where the father of a russian oppositionist was born.
At the same time, the russian oppositionist has not previously commented in the international media on the crimes of the russian occupiers against the civilian population in Kyiv and Bucha in particular.
Note
Journalists from the German newspaper Bild spoke to residents of Bucha, where the russian occupiers committed blatant crimes against humanity and war crimes and learned that the russians had killed a man named Illia Navalny. His passport, a citizen of Ukraine, was thrown by the russian occupiers near the body of the murdered man.
Ukrainian intelligence has information that soldiers of the russian 64th Motorized Rifle Brigade are involved in the atrocities in Bucha. On April 18, russian president vladimir putin, who was criticized by Navalny for corruption and incompetence, awarded the unit the honorary title of "guard" for "exemplary actions."
