Sarin found in village of Sumy region earlier occupied by Russian forces – Trostianets mayor

The remains of chemical weapons – sarin and other substances – were found in the village of Bilka in the Sumy region after the Russian military left the settlement.

Trostianets Mayor Yuriy Bova said this live on Ukrainian Radio.

"We found the remains of chemical weapons in the village of Bilka — sarin and other substances. We discovered ampoules. The Security Service of Ukraine is currently working on this. It is possible that the occupiers wanted to use this chemical to strike Kyiv, Poltava or other cities," he said.

He also noted that during one month of stay in Trostianets, the occupiers set up many booby traps, mined many cemeteries, forests, parks, and administrative buildings.

On April 11, Azov Regiment fighters said that Russian invaders dropped a poisonous substance of unknown origin from a drone on Mariupol. Three people were injured. They had respiratory failure.

The Secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons expressed concern over reports of the use of chemical weapons in Mariupol and the shelling of chemical plants in Ukraine.
