Washington says they're not to send Biden to Ukraine
US President Joe Biden has no plans to visit Ukraine at this time.
This was stated by White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki, according to The Washington Post.
"He is ready. He is ready for anything. A man likes a fast car, some aviators. He is ready to go to Ukraine. That's true. That's right. We are not sending the president to Ukraine," Psaki said.
She said that the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson, who unexpectedly visited Kyiv last Sunday, made an eight-hour train ride "through the war zone" to get to the center of Ukraine.
"So no, it's not part of the plans of the President of the United States. We should all perhaps be relieved about this. He has a few more cases," Psaki said.
Earlier, Biden said he was ready to come to Ukraine in person.
Note
In recent weeks, Kyiv has been visited by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger, and the leaders of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
The American media reported that the United States is considering a high-ranking official's visit to Kyiv in solidarity with Ukraine. However, potential candidates for a visit to Kyiv were US Secretary of State Antony Blinken or Defense Minister Lloyd Austin.
