Fortnite users have raised $144 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine
During the charitable initiative of Epic Games (developer of the game Fortnite) and Xbox, players managed to raise $144 million in humanitarian aid for Ukraine
This was announced on the Fortnite page on Twitter, EP reports.
"We truly thank all those who joined us in supporting the humanitarian effort for the victims of the war in Ukraine.
Together with the Fortnite and Xbox community, we raised $144 million," the statement said.
The funds will also go to the UN World Food Program, the UN Children's Fund, and the organization Direct Relief, which supplies medicines.
To recap, the American video game developer Epic Games (known as Gears of War, Fortnite, and Unreal Tournament) will direct all proceeds from Fortnite, collected from March 20 to April 3, to humanitarian aid for victims of the war in Ukraine.
The money will go to UNICEF, Direct Relief, the World Food Program, and UNHCR (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees). The list will be expanded in the coming weeks.
The company will transfer the funds "as quickly as possible."
Earlier, Epic Games (Gears of War, Fortnite, Unreal Tournament) announced the termination of commercial relations with russia.
