Biden: Russia's statements must be confirmed by concrete actions
US President Joe Biden has said that the Kremlin's statements about its readiness to reduce military activity in the Kyiv and Chernihiv areas must be confirmed by action.
The American leader stated this during a press conference following a meeting with the Prime Minister of Singapore, Ukrinform reports.
"We'll see if they do what they say," Biden said when asked how the United States evaluates Russia's statements about reducing military activity and whether the Kremlin is trying to buy time.
The head of the White House also noted that certain conclusions could be drawn only after the Russians take concrete steps.
The US President also noted that during his talks with the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom, a consensus was reached on responding to the situation in Ukraine.
"We will continue to keep up the pressure of sanctions. We will continue to provide the Ukrainian military with the ability to defend itself, and we will continue to closely monitor what is happening," Biden added.
As reported, three-hour talks between Ukraine and Russia took place in Istanbul on Tuesday.
The Russian side has stated that it will take "two steps towards de-escalation" towards Kyiv, in particular, "drastically reduce military activity in the Kyiv and Chernihiv areas."
