Zaluzhnyi compares Russian army's losses in wars in Ukraine and Chechnya
The losses of the Russian army in the war with Ukraine are already far greater than those suffered in the two Chechen wars.
This was announced on Facebook by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant-General Valerii Zaluzhnyi.
Zaluzhnyi cited data according to which the losses of the Russian Armed Forces in the first Chechen war in 1994-1996 amounted to 5,042 people; in the second Chechen war, which lasted in 1999-2000, 7,425 people. At the same time, in just a few days in Ukraine, February 24-28, the Russian aggressor lost 5,300 people.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are shelling and destroying key infrastructure, conducting massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, rocket-propelled grenades, and ballistic missiles.
Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
Ukraine has officially filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation in the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague.
