An anti-war rally near the General Staff of the Armed Forces takes place in Minsk
All democratic forces of Belarus call on Belarusians today, February 27, 2022, to gather at 17:00 in Minsk near the General Staff (Kommunisticheskaya, 1).

The protesters will urge the officers not to make decisions regarding a joint invasion of Ukraine with Russia.
"Only officers can now make this decision, only the command can suspend our troops," the announcement says.

The inspirer of the action is the lieutenant colonel of the reserve, the commander of the Brest airborne assault brigade, Valery Sakhashchik, who turned to the Belarusian military and urged them not to carry out criminal orders to attack Ukraine.
"I don't want to get into politics, politics has always been far away for me. But any cautious person should understand at least three things.
First: Ukraine has never threatened Belarus and is not threatening now.
Second, there are no drug addicts or nationalists in the Ukrainian government. And if they were, they would be elected in free, democratic elections.
Thirdly, the Belarusian armed forces have no legal grounds to break into the territory of Ukraine. Moreover, this is directly prohibited by the current Constitution," the lieutenant colonel explained.
"This is not our war. You will not defend your homeland, your home, your family. You will not gain glory in this conflict, but only shame, humiliation, blood, death and the state of the rogue nation for the entire Belarusian people for a decade. Brothers, find a way not to participate in this dirty business. Fathers-commanders, will you be able to live with the fact that you put the boys for nothing? How will you look into the eyes of the mothers who gave you their sons? ", – summed up Valery Sakhashchik.
