"Ukraine won't close the sky": Danilov states there are no preconditions for Russian invasion

On Monday, February 14, people's deputies held a closed meeting of the Verkhovna Rada (VR) due to the risk of the Russian Federation invading Ukraine. During their work, people's deputies made a number of important decisions.

The meeting was chaired not by Verkhovna Rada spokesperson Ruslan Stefanchuk, but by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksii Danilov. After it, the official gave a briefing, the Obozrevatel writes.

Danilov said that the authorities still didn't see the preconditions for a large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"We're well aware of what's happening in Ukraine. We're aware of the risks, but the situation is under control. We don't see that a large-scale offensive by Russia could take place on February 16 or 17," he said, adding that there are risks since Russia is encroaching on Ukrainian territory.

Danilov also said that the sky over Ukraine wouldn't be closed.

"We will not close the sky. Dutch companies are reinsuring. The Cabinet has allocated funds to insure the situation, holding a meeting on Sunday evening," he said.

In addition, Danilov said that as of February 14, 23 people's deputies were outside Ukraine.
