Today Foreign Ministers of Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Slovakia will pay a visit to Ukraine
The foreign ministers of Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Slovakia will pay a visit to Ukraine on February 7-8 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
This was reported by the Foreign Ministry.
"The ministers will hold talks, the key topics of which will be coordination of efforts within the Normandy format, implementation of a comprehensive restraint package, development of trade relations, strengthening energy security, intensification of dialogue on Germany's historical responsibility to Ukraine," the statement said.
It is noted that during the visit, the German Foreign Minister also plans to visit the demarcation line in eastern Ukraine to get acquainted with the current security situation in the area of the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kuleba and Baerbock will hold a joint online press conference at 5:10 p.m. today.
In addition, the Foreign Ministry noted that the first-ever visit of foreign ministers of the Slavkov format was aimed at demonstrating solidarity with Ukraine amid aggressive actions by the Russian Federation.
Kuleba and his Czech, Austrian and Slovak counterparts will hold talks, the key topics of which will be further support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression, implementation of a comprehensive deterrence package, strengthening security cooperation, support for Ukraine's economic and financial stability.
"Ministers of the Slavkov format also plan to visit the area of the Joint Forces operation, where they will get acquainted with the current security situation in the zone of the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict," the statement said.
Kuleba, Lipavský, Schallenberg, and Korčok will hold a joint press conference on February 8 at 11:55.
The Slavkov format was established by the Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic and Slovakia and the Chancellor of Austria in Slavkov (Czech Republic) on January 29, 2015. As part of the unification, the Czech Republic, Austria and Slovakia are strengthening cooperation in the political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. The presidency takes place on an annual rotation basis (from July 1 to June 30). The Czech Republic currently presides.
In addition, a statement on the website of the Czech Foreign Ministry states that during the visit, the Czech Foreign Minister will also hand over humanitarian aid. The Minister carries with him 500 so-called "traumatic kits."
As reported, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbok will meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on February 7-8 and hold talks with her Ukrainian counterpart Kuleba.
Baerbock has already met with both Ukrainian politicians during her first visit to Ukraine on January 17. In Kyiv, Baerbock will also visit a German-funded memorial to Holodomor victims.
In addition, the German Foreign Minister will visit Zaporizhzhia and visit the contact line.
Baerbock will visit alone, without her French counterpart Jean Yves le Drian, as originally planned. The reason for the cancellation of the French minister's visit is that he will accompany President Emmanuel Macron on his visits to Ukraine and Russia next week.
Also today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Lipavský will arrive in Ukraine together with the Foreign Ministers of Slovakia and Austria.
