152 children died, and another 146 were injured during war in Donbas
152 children were killed, and 146 others were injured during Russia's armed aggression in Donbas.
The Office of the Ombudsperson reported this, referring to the data of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission on Facebook, Rubryka reports.
"152 children were killed (including 102 boys and 50 girls) and 146 children were injured (including 120 boys and 26 girls) in Ukraine during the entire period of the conflict, from April 14, 2014, to April 30, 2021. These painful statistics don't fully reflect the extent of the losses suffered by children during the protracted armed conflict," the statement said.
It is noted that at present Ukraine cannot provide state control over the observance of human rights in the temporarily occupied territory to assess the scale of the problems faced by children on the other side of the line of demarcation.
The Office of the Ombudsperson reminded that according to the Law "On Child Protection," a child, injured, contusioned, maimed, physically, sexually, psychologically abused, abducted or illegally taken outside Ukraine as a result of hostilities or armed conflict, was involved in military formations or illegally detained, including in captivity, establishes the status of a child who's suffered as a result of hostilities and armed conflicts. As of May 30, 2021, 66,491 children received this status. 95 of them received it due to injuries, contusions, disability.
Today, June 4, for the first time at the state level, Ukraine honors the memory of children who died because of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. The Verkhovna Rada adopted the relevant resolution on International Children's Day, June 1.
The date of the commemoration day was chosen not by chance, because every year on June 4, the International Day of Children, Innocent Victims of Aggression is honored, which was established by the General Assembly of the United Nations.
