International Day of Persons with Disabilities: 10 stories about inclusion in Ukraine
How people with disabilities integrate into society in Ukraine—the most interesting cases and initiatives from Rubryka
On December 3, at the United Nations initiative, the world celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This day draws attention to the problems of people with disabilities, promotes inclusiveness, and protects their rights. Today, about 15 percent of the world's population are individuals with disabilities, and yet, often their problems are silenced in society. They stay invisible and don't take an active part in public life. It's happening, in particular, due to the world's inadaptability. That's why inclusiveness, i.e. inclusion and participation of all society members in its processes, is vital.
Every year, December 3 has its own theme, designed to draw attention to the steps already taken towards creating inclusive societies and addressing inequality. This year's theme is "Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible, and sustainable post-COVID-19 World."
On the occasion, we've collected our best pieces on inclusiveness in Ukraine. Among them are interesting cases, tips and tricks, and expert opinions on the topic. By the way, some articles are dedicated to inclusion in coronavirus Ukraine.
