Klitschko offered alternative to weekend quarantine
Kyiv will comply with the government's decision on weekend quarantine.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko informed about this at a briefing, Ukrinform reports.
"I want to stress that the key thing to us today is to save people's health and lives. Therefore, Kyiv will comply with the government's decision to weekend quarantine. Yes, we can agree or not. It's not an ideal option, and there are many questions. But with such dynamics of the virus spreading, the medical system soon can not cope with the number of patients. We understand that the only alternative is a complete lockdown to break the chain of incidence," Klitschko said.
Meanwhile, Klitschko called on the government to develop and propose compensation mechanisms and benefits for businesses immediately.
"We understand that it's very important to prevent economic collapse, closure of businesses, and enterprises because people have already become impoverished during the pandemic. Therefore, the government must immediately develop and propose a mechanism for compensation and benefits for business," Klitschko said.
According to him, Kyiv introduced such a set of measures for business in March, and now the city will reconsider the possibilities of what else they can do to support business and save jobs.
"Today at the selector with the Prime Minister, I also stressed the importance of monitoring the isolation of patients and contacts to stop the spread of the virus. Because, unfortunately, the "Dii Vdoma" system doesn't work, and we have many examples of infected and contact persons continuing to go to work, to school, visit public places. Controlling patients and those coming in contact with infected is one of the principal ways to break the chain of the virus transmission," he said.
