E-commerce of medicines officially allowed in Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has signed a law that will allow the e-commerce of medicines in Ukraine. The document regulates distance trade in medicines at the legislative level.

The press service of the President's Office reports.

The law allows an entity that has a license to retail drugs to carry out electronic retail trade of drugs and to deliver them to the direct consumer.

The document also establishes a list of basic requirements for distance trade of medicines for pharmacies, requirements for storage, release, and transportation.

According to the law, the seller may deliver medicines to the consumer by his own courier service or contractually involve courier delivery services of postal operators, which have to comply with the conditions of the medicine storage.

The responsibility for maintaining the quality of drugs and compliance with the storage conditions specified by the manufacturer is upon the company-seller, which carries out electronic retail trade.

Thus, medicines will become more accessible to citizens, as even in remote areas it will be possible to order medicines at the post office.

In addition, the law harmonizes the current legislation of Ukraine in the distance trade of drugs of the European Union legislation.
