Oleksander Polukishnik, a serviceman in a special forces unit, set a national record for long-distance knife throwing. The athlete, who holds a European champion title, threw a knife 18 meters using a half-spin technique.

Lana Vietrova, head of the National Register of Records of Ukraine, reported the achievement, Rubryka writes.

Oleksandr Polukishnik is a 37-year-old serviceman in a special forces unit who has been defending Ukraine since 2014. In addition to his military service, he practices sports knife throwing and holds the title of European champion in this discipline.

To set the record, the athlete used the half-spin throwing technique. According to Lana Vietrova, experts consider it one of the most compelling and effective styles in the sport.

"The half-spin knife throwing technique is considered one of the most compelling and effective in this sport. Its main feature is that after traveling the entire distance, the knife executes a single 180-degree turn. The handle turns back, while the tip moves straight ahead to enter the target at a right angle," noted the head of the National Register of Records of Ukraine.

Oleksandr Polukishnik has not only mastered this technique, but he also teaches it to others. As Lana Vietrova explained, trainers apply these relevant skills when instructing special operations units.

"Oleksandr has mastered this technique perfectly and teaches others, as these skills prove essential in training special operations units," emphasized Lana Vietrova.
