"Pryluky, Kremenchuk, Oleksandriia, Kyiv – today's shelling claimed 28 lives… Behind every message about an increasing toll lies a tragedy for dozens of families," Vyhivskyi noted.
According to him, SES personnel and police officers rescued 29 people from under rubble, evacuated them from destroyed buildings, and secured them from fire. For the most part, these were people rescued in Pryluky.
Vyhivskyi also spoke about rescuer Pavlo Levchenko, who, together with colleagues, freed a five-year-old girl and her mother from under the rubble.
"Footage showing an SES worker carrying a 5-year-old girl in his arms circulated across almost all media. It shows squad leader Pavlo Levchenko. Together with colleagues, he rescued the child and her mother from under the rubble after the blast wave blew them out of the building.
Debris clearance continues … we must ensure no more people remain underneath," the minister said.
