Sweden will deploy Patriot air defense systems to eastern Poland in December to protect a NATO logistics hub that allies use to deliver military aid to Ukraine.
According to Rubryka, Reuters reported that Sweden will send about 100 military personnel from an air defense unit based in Halmstad to join the operation.
The deployment will begin in December.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson stated that military forces will use both Patriot systems and Gripen fighter jets to safeguard the Alliance's logistics hub.
"The task of both the Gripen deployment and the Patriot deployment is to protect NATO's logistics hub in Poland at the airport," Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson declared.
At the same time, Kristersson did not specify how many Patriot systems Sweden plans to send to Poland.

"We see Russia testing us across Europe. We must be prepared for Russia's campaign of hostile actions against allies to continue. We all must remain vigilant and ready to respond," Rutte stressed.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten supported this position, emphasizing that Europe will not yield to intimidation and that their countries are already boosting intelligence cooperation to unprecedented levels.
It is worth mentioning that Poland stands ready to consider building a plant on its territory to produce missiles for Patriot systems if Ukraine secures the relevant license from the US. The Polish Ministry of Defense noted that such production could sit on secure territory.
