Russian attacks kill one and injure two in Kyiv, wound four in Dnipropetrovsk region

Russian forces launched an attack on Kyiv overnight on October 2, leaving one person dead and two others injured. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian troops targeted four districts over 30 times, injuring four people in Pavlohrad.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), Kyiv City State Administration, and Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko reported the aftermath, according to Rubryka.

Kyiv

Around 6:00 a.m., reports confirmed a strike on a 25-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district.

Authorities subsequently confirmed one fatality and two injuries resulting from the Russian strike on the high-rise.

"Regrettably, as a result of an enemy strike on a residential building in the Darnytskyi district, one person was killed. We express our condolences to the family and loved ones. Two casualties have also been reported," the Kyiv City State Administration stated.

According to the State Emergency Service, firefighters extinguished a blaze spanning 120 square meters across the 24th and 25th floors. Structural damage covered approximately 40 square meters.

Rescuers extracted two injured individuals from the building and transferred them to medical personnel. Emergency crews discovered the body of the deceased victim while extinguishing the fire. Firefighters evacuated six additional residents from the structure as operations to clear debris and douse smoldering wreckage continue.

Earlier in the night, Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko reported falling drone debris in the Holosiivskyi district. The debris landed in an open area, shattering windows in a non-residential building and damaging several parked vehicles.

Additionally, Russian troops struck the Pivdennyi (South) Bridge for the third time overnight.

At around 5:00 a.m., Mayor Klychko confirmed the third strike against the Pivdennyi Bridge.

"In connection with overnight enemy attacks, public transport movement across specific bridges is temporarily restricted. The Pivdennyi Bridge is closed in both directions. The Paton Bridge is closed in both directions. The Metro Bridge is closed toward the Right Bank," Klychko announced.

Following the strikes, municipal authorities closed the Pivdennyi, Paton, and Metro bridges to public transit, re-routing traffic across the Darnytskyi Bridge.

Dnipropetrovsk region

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian attacks injured four people as occupation forces targeted four districts across the region over 30 times.

Four individuals sustained injuries in Pavlohrad, where a Russian strike damaged an administrative building and triggered fires.

Another fire broke out in the regional capital of Dnipro.

In the Nikopol and Synelnykove districts, Russian strikes damaged an industrial facility, a hotel, private residences, and vehicles.

Emergency services continue cleanup and recovery operations across the affected sites.

Background

A day earlier, a Russian drone struck an administrative building at a DTEK Energy coal enterprise in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region. The attack inflicted shrapnel wounds on one worker, while another employee sought medical care for an acute stress reaction.
