Russian forces attack Kyiv and region with ballistic missiles and drones, leaving fatalities, including a child

Russia launched an overnight missile and drone attack against Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Authorities reported two dead in the capital, while rescuers recovered the body of a child from under the rubble of a private house in the region, with three other people injured.
The State Emergency Service (SES), the Kyiv City Military Administration, the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitalii Klychko, and the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, reported the details, according to Rubryka.
On the night of September 30, Russian forces struck Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The enemy attacked the capital with ballistic missiles before continuing strikes using jet-powered drones.
Russian troops launched jet drones against Kyiv both prior to and following the ballistic missile strike, causing explosions to resound across the city nearly every hour throughout the night.

At 2:47 a.m., authorities declared an air raid alert in Kyiv due to a missile threat.
"Red alert level. An air raid alert has been declared due to a missile threat. We urge city residents to head to the nearest shelters," the announcement read.
Concurrently, the Ukrainian Air Force warned of the threat of ballistic weapons. Military officials later reported confirmed missile launches, stating that all enemy targets were heading directly for the capital.

At 3:51 a.m., the Kyiv City Military Administration reported a woman injured in the attack.
At 4:03 a.m., Mayor of Kyiv Vitalii Klychko reported two casualties.
"Currently, there are two injured as a result of the enemy attack. Medics hospitalized one wounded woman," Klychko informed.

Following the all-clear for the ballistic threat, authorities declared a new alert in Kyiv due to enemy drones.
In the morning, reports emerged of a fire at a private residence in the Podilskyi district.

The Kyiv City Military Administration later updated the injury count to four. Authorities recorded consequences of the Russian attack in the Sviatoshynskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Obolonskyi districts.
In the capital's Sviatoshynskyi district, a private house caught fire, while approximately 10 other houses sustained damage.
In the Podilskyi district, Russian forces hit a non-residential building, igniting the roof and construction materials on the sixth floor. A fire also broke out in a two-story building.
Emergency crews recorded damage and a fire at a warehouse facility, where they subsequently extinguished the blaze.
In the Holosiivskyi district, several sites caught fire, while a grass fire was recorded in the Solomianskyi district.
Two deaths have been confirmed in Kyiv.

Kyiv region
On the night of September 30, the Kyiv region also suffered a missile and drone attack by Russian forces. A child died in the strike, and three other people sustained injuries. Private houses across the region were destroyed or damaged, fires broke out, and strikes damaged infrastructure.

Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, reported that in Vyshhorod, rescuers pulled three people from under the rubble of a destroyed private house.
At the same time, emergency workers discovered the body of another child beneath the debris.

"In Vyshhorod, rescuers saved three people from under the rubble of a destroyed private house. Among them is a child who suffered an acute stress reaction. A man sustained shrapnel wounds to his head, and a woman suffered leg injuries. They are receiving the necessary medical care. Unfortunately, rescuers found the body of another child under the rubble. Emergency crews are working on unblocking the site. This is a terrible tragedy. My sincere condolences to the child's family and loved ones," Tkachenko reported.

In the Vyshhorod district, the attack damaged and destroyed private houses. Fires broke out in a residential building and garages, and window glass was shattered.
In the Bucha district, strikes damaged three private houses, 11 cars, and two storage facilities, while igniting a fire.

Authorities also recorded the consequences of the Russian attack on infrastructure facilities in the Bucha and Obukhiv districts.
Tkachenko added that relevant emergency services are operating on site.

Background
As previously reported, over the past week, Russian attacks in Kyiv killed 12 people and injured approximately 200 others. Over the past month, roughly 360 civilians were injured in the capital, and 31 people lost their lives.
