Lysak reported that Russian troops attacked Odesa's infrastructure overnight and in the morning. The strike ignited a fire that emergency crews extinguished.

The attack on infrastructure destroyed three trucks, damaged eight others, and caused structural damage to buildings. While Lysak initially reported no injuries, he later clarified that preliminary reports confirmed two wounded individuals. Authorities continue to verify full impact details.

According to Ukrinform, citing the shelter's owner, Tamara Kyhyliuk, a Russian strike hit the "Loving Hearts" animal shelter in the Odesa suburbs overnight on September 29.

While the owner rescued some animals from the flames, three dogs and ten cats died in the blaze. Before the attack, the "Loving Hearts" shelter housed 136 dogs and 48 cats.

According to the owner, Russian forces struck the shelter twice within approximately ten minutes, complicating animal evacuation efforts. The first impact ignited surrounding fields, while the second strike spread fire directly to the shelter grounds.

The fire destroyed shelter property, warm bedding, food supplies, medications, and care equipment.

Tamara shared that during the shelling, frightened animals sought shelter inside their plastic houses, which caught fire instantly.

"I was feeding the animals in the evening. Suddenly, a flash burst before me, and the blast wave threw me into the room. My head hurt severely, and I felt disoriented. Then I saw flames. I ran for a fire extinguisher and began putting out the grass so the fire wouldn't reach the enclosures. That's when the second strike hit. I managed to clear a small path for the animals and unlocked the door to the yard where they were kept. I pulled them out by their necks. I had only minutes left to save them," the shelter owner recalled.

When rescuers arrived at the scene, they tried to move the woman to safety, but she refused to leave the animals behind.

"They would have simply burned alive. A waterfall of flaming plastic rained down from above. I put on a medical mask, but it couldn't shield me from the smoke," Tamara remembered.

Background

As previously reported, on the night of September 29, Russian forces deployed a Zircon/Oniks anti-ship missile, two Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, and 152 drones against Ukraine. Air defense forces neutralized 109 aerial targets.

In total, over the past 24 hours, Russian strikes targeted 11 Ukrainian regions. In Kyiv, Russian attacks damaged the depot at the Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station, data and business centers, and residential buildings.
