Russia attacks Kyiv and region overnight: strikes kill and injure residents, damage homes and gas station

On the evening of September 27 and during the night of September 28, Russian forces attacked Kyiv and the Kyiv region with strike drones. In the capital, authorities recorded strikes and falling UAV debris in several districts, sparking fires and damaging buildings. In the Kyiv region, a strike on market grounds in Sofiivska Borshchahivka killed residents and injured several others. On the morning of September 28, a drone hit a gas station in the Obolonskyi district.
The Kyiv City Military Administration, Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko, the Kyiv Region Prosecutor's Office, and the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, reported the details, according to Rubryka.
On the morning of September 28, a Russian drone struck a gas station in the Obolonskyi district. According to preliminary information, the strike damaged the station and ignited a fire on its premises.
"According to preliminary information, a UAV strike damaged a gas station in the Obolonskyi district. Emergency services are heading to the scene," the Kyiv City Military Administration reported.
The mayor of the capital also reported three casualties in Kyiv since the start of September 28.
"All are in the Podilskyi district. Paramedics treated two of them—a 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl—at the scene. Medical workers hospitalized one person, a 17-year-old boy," Klychko added.

Additionally, according to him, a UAV struck a cafe near a gas station in the Holosiivskyi district.
"Emergency services are heading to the scene," the mayor added.
At 5:46 a.m., authorities issued an air raid alert in Kyiv for the second time that night due to the threat of drone strikes.
At 11:16 p.m., Klychko reported a UAV falling onto the roof of a warehouse building in the Pecherskyi district, where a fire also broke out.

Before that, in the Podilskyi district, a Russian drone struck a 16-story residential building at the seventh-floor level. According to preliminary information, the strike caused casualties. Emergency services worked at the scene.
As Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko reported, around 10:30 p.m., UAV debris fell onto the roof of an office building in the Podilskyi district. A fire broke out there, destroying parts of the structure.

Around 11:00 p.m., Klychko reported a direct hit on the residential high-rise.
"In the Podilskyi district, next to the office center where UAV debris fell, a strike hit a 16-story residential building at the level of the 7th floor. Preliminarily, there are casualties. Emergency services are on site," the mayor stated.
Furthermore, a blast wave in the Podilskyi district damaged windows in several residential buildings. According to Klychko, the UAV fell nearby in an open area.

Overall, the aerial threat in Kyiv lasted continuously for nine hours and ten minutes.
According to Kyiv Digital and air alert tracking maps, authorities sounded the alert in Kyiv on September 27 at 3:46 p.m. The all-clear sounded at 12:56 a.m. on September 28.
A massive attack by Russian strike drones caused the extended aerial threat.
As the mayor of the capital reported, Russian attacks over the past day injured nine people in Kyiv.
"Nine people were injured on September 27 in the capital as a result of enemy attacks. Paramedics hospitalized six wounded individuals, including one child," he noted.
Strike on the market in Sofiivska Borshchahivka
Even before the overnight strikes in the capital, authorities recorded the consequences of the Russian attack in the Kyiv region. In the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka in the Bucha district, a strike drone hit the market grounds.

The Kyiv Region Prosecutor's Office reported that the strike killed one man and injured about 10 people.
"This evening, as a result of an enemy attack in the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka, Bucha district, a strike drone hit market grounds.

At the same time, Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko reported different preliminary figures regarding the consequences of the strike. According to him, the attack on the market in the suburbs of the capital killed two people and injured four others.
"A market is burning in the suburbs of the capital. Currently, according to medical information, four people are injured there. Paramedics are examining them and providing aid. Also, preliminarily, two people died," Klychko wrote.
Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, also reported two dead and three injured in Sofiivska Borshchahivka due to the enemy UAV hit.

Additionally, authorities recorded damage in other areas of the Kyiv region:
- In the Bila Tserkva district, strikes damaged a grain storage facility and a high-rise building,
- In the village of Shchaslyve, Boryspil district, a strike damaged a car.
Background
As President Volodymyr Zelenskyi reported, over the course of this week, Russian forces launched against Ukraine: more than 2,200 strike drones, approximately 1,650 aerial bombs, and 38 missiles of various types, a significant portion of which were ballistic.
