United to win: Poland offers to build Patriot missile factory on its territory if Ukraine secures US license

Poland stands ready to consider building a factory on its territory to produce Patriot missiles if Ukraine obtains the appropriate license from the US. Poland's Ministry of National Defense noted that such production could be located in a safe territory.
Polish Deputy Defense Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka stated this, DW reports, according to Rubryka.
Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka noted that the process through which Warsaw seeks to establish a service center—and eventually production capabilities for Patriot missiles—operates independently of the situation surrounding Ukraine.
"My interlocutors in Washington confirmed that even if such a decision is made regarding Ukraine, it will not alter our efforts or derail approval for Poland," Sobkowiak-Czarnecka emphasized.
On September 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi stated that his counterpart, Donald Trump, had made a "final decision" to grant Kyiv licenses to produce Patriot missiles. The Polish deputy defense minister recalled that the White House leader previously made a similar statement at the NATO summit in Ankara, though he later expressed doubt about the move.
"We will see what comes of this," Sobkowiak-Czarnecka added.
In late August, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Zalewski stated that his country possesses the manufacturing capacity and is ready to begin producing PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot systems on its territory, while remaining open to cooperation with Ukraine in this area.
According to him, Poland may consider joint production of interceptor missiles alongside Ukraine.
Background
On July 13, speaking in Paris at a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, Zelenskyi confirmed that he and President Trump reached a key agreement regarding licenses for Patriot system production, describing the deal as historic.
On July 22, Volodymyr Zelenskyi shared that Ukraine and the United States had begun discussions on joint production of interceptor missiles for Patriot surface-to-air missile systems.
Later, US President Donald Trump noted that the United States had not yet granted final approval to transfer a license to produce Patriot interceptor missiles to Ukraine, despite earlier reports suggesting support for the decision.
On September 2, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed that Washington and Kyiv continue negotiations on granting Kyiv a license to localize the production of missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
