Russian drone hits Kyiv high-rise, killing a 14-year-old boy and injuring seven

On the morning of September 25, during a Russian drone attack on Kyiv, a UAV struck a 16-story residential building in the Pecherskyi district. A 14-year-old boy was killed, and at least seven residents were injured.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko, the Kyiv City Military Administration, and Kyiv Police reported the attack, according to Rubryka.

Before the strike, authorities issued a drone threat alert in the capital.

"According to preliminary information, a residential building was damaged in the Pecherskyi district as a result of a falling UAV. Emergency services are heading to the scene," the Kyiv City Military Administration stated.

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a jet-powered Shahed attacked the capital. The Air Force reported its presence over the city around 8:00 a.m.

Mayor Klychko later confirmed the drone hit a residential high-rise in the Pecherskyi district.

"In the Pecherskyi district, a UAV hit a high-rise building between the 7th and 10th floors," the mayor wrote.

Initial reports from the Kyiv City Military Administration indicated one person was injured following the UAV crash in the Pecherskyi district.

Kyiv Police later clarified the details and consequences of the attack. According to law enforcement, an enemy drone hit a 16-story residential building in the capital's Pecherskyi district on the 10th to 11th floor level in the morning.

The attack killed a 14-year-old boy and injured at least seven residents of the building, with one victim in serious condition.

Authorities are currently verifying the final casualty figures.

This marks another in a series of recent strikes targeting the capital. Air raid alerts sounded in Kyiv overnight on September 25, with local authorities urging residents to seek shelter.

Mayor Vitalii Klychko previously reported that a UAV hit a 25-story building in the Solomianskyi district overnight, injuring one person.

Background

Overnight on September 24, Russian forces also launched ballistic missiles at Kyiv, triggering a series of explosions. That attack killed two people and injured eight, with debris falling, fires, and destruction recorded across several districts, damaging warehouses, administrative and private buildings, and structures near a maternity hospital.
