Long-range drones operated by Ukraine's Security Service struck the Bashneft-Ufa Refinery in the Russian city of Ufa, Bashkortostan Republic, early on October 11.

The target lies about 1,400 kilometers from Ukrainian territory, Hromadske reported, citing informed sources.

Ufa is one of Russia's largest oil refining centers, supplying fuel and lubricants to the Russian armed forces.

The refinery handles the full cycle of hydrocarbon processing and produces more than 150 types of products, including gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, bitumen, and polyethylene. According to the Rusprofile service, the company's 2024 revenue totaled $3.03 billion, with a net profit of $44 million.

Following the explosions at the Bashneft-Ufa Refinery, fire crews rushed to the site as a thick black smoke rose.

Preliminary reports show that after the drone strike on Ukraine's special operations center, a fire broke out in the area of the ELOU-AVT-6 crude oil processing unit.

"These strikes show that there are no safe places deep inside Russia. The security service can reach any target on enemy territory that supports the war against Ukraine," an informed source within the agency told Hromadske.

The source also emphasized that this was already the third strike on an oil refinery in Bashkortostan within a month.

"This is the third deep strike in Bashkortostan in just one month — 1,400 kilometers from Ukraine," the source added.

Міністерство оборони росії підтвердило атаку дронів на республіку Башкортостан. У відомстві заявили, що в період з 11:00 до 14:00 за місцевим часом нібито вдалося ліквідувати щонайменше 5 дронів.

Russia's Ministry of Defense confirmed the drone attack on the Republic of Bashkortostan, claiming that between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. local time, its forces allegedly intercepted at least five drones.

On September 24, Russian officials reported a drone attack on the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refinery in Bashkortostan.

Earlier, on September 18, drones also targeted Gazprom's petrochemical complex in the city of Salavat, located roughly 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

In 2024, a previous drone strike hit Salavat's industrial zone, damaging a crude oil catalytic cracking unit.

Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi earlier stated that the Ukrainian armed forces continue implementing the DeepStrike program to hit military targets inside Russia. In September, Ukrainian forces carried out around 70 strikes against enemy sites, including fuel and explosives production facilities.
