United to win: Estonia provides Ukraine with new €100 mln military aid package

Estonia plans to purchase military equipment and supplies worth 100 million euros for Ukraine, including drones, watercraft, medical equipment, and other items manufactured by local defense enterprises.
The press service of the Estonian Ministry of Defense reported this.
According to the Estonian Defense Ministry, the list includes:
- drones and unmanned ground vehicles,
- watercraft,
- medical equipment,
- items supplied by Estonian defense enterprises.
The Estonian Ministry of Defense did not provide details on the number and timing of deliveries, which are not disclosed for security reasons.
"We agreed last year that both this year and next year, we will support Ukraine militarily, allocating 0.25% of our GDP per year for the products of the Estonian defense industry… Today [March 21 – ed.], we received feedback from Ukraine, which will allow us to deliver assistance to Ukrainians as soon as possible," Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said.
The main part of Estonia's military assistance will be invested in measures that allow Estonian enterprises to contribute to Ukraine's victory. In addition, Estonia:
- will provide Ukraine with direct military material assistance,
- will participate in the training of Ukrainian defense forces,
- together with Luxembourg, will lead the IT coalition to assist Ukraine.
For reference:
Estonia remains a reliable partner of Ukraine in combating the humanitarian consequences of the war, constantly providing financial, technical, and military support. The Estonian government's efforts aim to ensure that Ukrainians can overcome the difficulties caused by Russian aggression as soon as possible.
Thus, at the end of February, Ukraine received a new package of military aid from Estonia, including ammunition and food kits.
Also, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, together with the Estonian Center for International Development (ESTDEV) and the Tallinn College of Health, has been implementing two training programs for Ukrainian rehabilitation specialists since October 2023.
In addition, Estonia is considering purchasing Ukrainian defense products, particularly long-range missiles. However, due to the military situation, exports are banned, but this can be circumvented.
Currently, Estonia's defense support to Ukraine amounts to almost 542 million euros or 1.4% of the country's GDP.
