United to win: Germany updates Ukraine aid package with Gepard systems, Vector drones, IRIS-T missiles and ammunition

On Monday, March 17, the German government updated the list of military aid to Ukraine.

It included three Gepard installations, missiles for IRIS-T, and ammunition.

The list also indicates that Ukraine received from Germany:

• 24 MRAP armored vehicles,
• ammunition for Leopard tanks,
• ammunition for Marder infantry fighting vehicles.

The updated list also includes:

• 10,000 rounds of ammunition for Gepard
• 5,000 rounds of 155-mm ammunition
• 2,000 rounds of 122-mm ammunition
• 50 VECTOR reconnaissance drones (total 549)
• 30 Gereon RCS tracked drones
• 30 drone detection systems

It also indicates that Ukraine received:

• two armored vehicles for mine clearance,
• two mine trawlers.

The list includes 8,000 rounds of ammunition for a 120-mm mortar. And also:

• laser rangefinders,
• infrared binoculars,
• vehicles,
• assault rifles,
• first-aid kits.

Rubryka previously reported that Germany is preparing substantial new military assistance packages for Ukraine, expected in the first half of 2025. These packages will likely include air defense systems, tanks, and howitzers.

It should be noted that Friedrich Merz, head of the Christian Democratic Union and candidate for the position of Chancellor of Germany, expressed hope that 3 billion euros in aid to Ukraine will be agreed upon in the coming days.

Since the start of the full-scale war, Germany has become the largest supplier of military assistance to Ukraine among European countries. In particular, Berlin has transferred:

• Patriot air defense systems,
• Leopard 2 tanks,
• PzH 2000 self-propelled guns and other weapons to support the Ukrainian military.

There is also an agreement with Germany to strengthen air defense immediately. The deal provides arrangements under which the signatory countries will contribute to joint projects or finance their own projects to enhance the air defense capabilities of Ukraine's armed forces.

As reported, Germany will soon transfer about 100 guided missiles to Ukraine for the IRIS-T air defense systems.
